The trip was great. We really couldn't have asked for more. Antigua is a beautiful place and Sandals was perfect for what we wanted. It is definitely one of the best vacations we have been on. Thanks for all your help and I am sure we will contact with you in the near future for the next trip.
Yes, we did the Shirley Heights sunset party on Sunday which was very fun. If you recommend it to anyone though, I would tell them to just take a cab up there so thy can pick the time they want to stay until. The tour gets there at 4:30pm and leaves at 7:30pm. We hired a cab for the same price as the tour and stayed an extra hour which made a big difference in my opinion. They had a live Steele Band and Reggae Band which was great. We also did the sunset cruise which was awesome because there were only like 10 people on the boat so there was plenty of room to go off on your own and enjoy the sunset and some drinks. That was it for the tours.
We did go scuba diving one day but it wasn't anything great; fun but not a must do
Thanks. The trip was great. Antigua was full of pleasant surprises and loaded with pleasant people. Everything was great at Sandals. The only snag was when they didn't get the Honeymoon stuff done. We had to request the special turn down service and the breakfast in bed. We had the confirmation email before we left, but didn't show them anything when we got there. We assumed it was already taken care of, but I think we were supposed to present them with paperwork.
Overall the trip was wonderful. The little snag was no big deal. Sandals is a great resort and we loved it. The half day Eco adventure that you got us was amazing. They said they normally do large groups, but there was only one other couple there they day we went. They were scheduled for 74 people the next day though. I would recommend that trip to anyone. I think we got the best deal because there were just a few of us.
Yes we did some snorkeling form the resort. They took us out about 6 minutes offshore to a reef area. It was very nice with lots of coral. The downside was the abundance of jellyfish in that location. They weren't an issue with stinging, but my wife was freaked out. It's not fun swimming through schools of jellyfish even if they aren't stinging you.
The other location (with the Paddles Eco-tour) was much more pleasant. I would still go back to the resort snorkel spot, but some were a little freaked by the jellyfish.
To answer your previous email about the food... It was all pretty good. My favorite restaurant may have been the Bayside because you could almost always get a buffet there and be in resort casual wear. The Bayside menu changed daily, which I liked. Mario's became my wife's favorite. That's the italian restaurant that has resort formal dinners. My wife loved the lasagna, and the other dishes I tried there were good. We also took advantage of Mario's breakfast buffet quite a few mornings.
No these jellyfish weren't really the stinging kind. We were told that the large ones can sting, but these were schools of small ones. Only saw a few large ones swimming deeper.
You can sign up for the resort snorkeling as many times as you want. It goes out every day at least once. The other snorkeling trip was part of that Paddles Eco-tour you booked for us. I enjoyed that one a little more, but the resort trip is fine. If you are staying at Sandals there are several outside tours you can take (must be paid for separate from resort stay) that offer snorkeling.
